Terms of Service

These terms explain the rules for using From Friends, posting updates, replying, importing contacts, phone verification, and sending invitations.

Agreement

These Terms of Service govern your use of From Friends, a close-friends voice update app. By creating an account, accessing the app, posting an update, replying, importing contacts, or sending an invitation, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, do not use From Friends.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use From Friends. If you use From Friends on behalf of another person or organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for them.

Your Account

You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your phone number and device secure. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.

User Content

You may create, upload, record, post, share, or send voice notes, photos, text replies, audio replies, profile information, and other content through From Friends. You keep ownership of your content.

You grant From Friends a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transcribe, display, transmit, and otherwise use your content as needed to operate, improve, secure, and provide the service.

You are responsible for your content and for making sure you have the rights and permissions needed to share it.

Close-Friends Sharing

From Friends is designed for sharing with a small set of people you know. When you post an update, you are responsible for selecting the intended audience. People who can view an update may still screenshot, record, copy, or otherwise share what they see or hear outside the app, so only share content you are comfortable sending to that audience.

Invitations and Consent

You may choose to share an update with someone who is not on From Friends by entering or selecting their phone number. Only send invitations to people you know and who would reasonably expect to receive a message from you.

When you send an invitation, the recipient may receive a message from you that includes your name, says that you shared a voice update, and links to From Friends. The recipient is not subscribed to marketing messages by receiving an invitation.

You agree not to use From Friends to send spam, bulk invitations, harassment, deceptive messages, or messages that violate law, carrier rules, platform policies, or provider policies.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Harass, threaten, abuse, defame, impersonate, or dox anyone.
Post or send content that is unlawful, hateful, exploitative, sexually abusive, invasive of privacy, or designed to harm others.
Upload malware or interfere with the security, reliability, or operation of From Friends.
Scrape, reverse engineer, or access the service through unauthorized means.
Use From Friends for spam, mass messaging, fraud, phishing, or deceptive activity.
Violate any applicable law or third-party right.

Blocking and Enforcement

Users may block other users. We may remove content, limit access, suspend accounts, or take other action if we believe these Terms have been violated or if needed to protect users, From Friends, or others.

Transcripts

From Friends may generate transcripts of voice notes and audio replies. Transcripts may be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on transcripts as exact records.

Third-Party Services

From Friends relies on third-party services such as Supabase, Twilio, OpenAI, Apple platform services, and other infrastructure providers. Their services may be subject to their own terms and policies.

No Emergency Use

From Friends is not for emergency communication, crisis support, or time-sensitive safety needs.

Beta and Changes

From Friends may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. During early development, features may be incomplete, unavailable, or changed without notice.

Disclaimers

From Friends is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, From Friends and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from or related to your use of the service.

Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless From Friends and its operators from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising from your content, your use of the service, your invitations, or your violation of these Terms.

Termination

You may stop using From Friends at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you violated these Terms or if necessary to protect the service or others.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a new effective date. Your continued use of From Friends after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
